You can find answers to that questions on our site.

What is it? │ Ski jumping is a winter sport. The aim of the skiers is to jump as far as it's possible.                                     Along with skiing and Nordic combined it creates a group of Nordic skiing.

What are the rules? The rules aren't as simple as most people think. The skier has to jump                                                           almost perfectly. There are a lot of factors of ranking the jump.                                                                     The competitor can't make a lot of mistakes with the style and the                                                                 distance of his leap is obviously important too. Weather, precisely wind is                                                     also a factor of the rating.

What is the history of it?│ Like most of winter sports ski jumping was created in Norway.                                                                       The first competiotion was held in 1866 year in  Høydalsmo.                                                                          The winner of this event was Sondre Norheim who is known                                                                           as the "father" of modern skiing.

The first larger ski jumping competition took place on a Husebyrennet hill                                                   in Norwegian city Oslo 1875 and due to poor weather was later                                                                      moved to Holmenkollen. Now it takes place here every years.

Later skiers started to diffuse ski jumping in other countries.
Sandre Norhein and Karl Hovelsen developed it in United States.
Since 1924 Winter Olimpics in Chamonix, France it's an olimpic sport.                                                         Then it was brought to Canada, Slovenia, Poland ect. │

Where is it popular?│ It's popular in Europe, mostly in Nordic countries and in Central Europe.
Besides it's also a trend in Japan. │

Is it dangerous? │ Of course, it's a really dangerous sport.
The are a lot of fails, but most of them aren't very serious.
Sometimes one accident can be the end of skier career.
There were some deadly ski jumps and the one of the most popular of                                                           them is a tragic story of Raymont Roullier.                                                                                                       When he was only 12 the skier died 25 January 1925.                                                                                     It happend on a ski jump in Goff Falls in Manchester in state New Hampshire in the
USA. The boy fell on the ground and broke his neck.
This days there aren't any deadly accidens, because now everything is more                                                 prepared. We know more about the weather, technices of ski jumps ect.
